#GoodNews: Firefighters Rescue Bride & Groom Trapped In Elevator

Firefighters in North Carolina rescue a newlywed couple and their bridal party trapped in a hotel elevator. This past weekend, firefighters from the Charlotte Fire Department answered the call to save a group stuck in an uptown hotel elevator.

Panav and Victoria Jha had just gotten married hours before and were headed to their reception on the sixteenth floor of the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charlotte’s Third Ward neighborhood when the elevator got stuck between floors. After spending more than two hours in the elevator, firefighters were able to use ropes to pull the newlyweds and four members of their wedding party out one by one.

The Charlotte Fire Department tweeted a pic of the first responders with the grateful newlyweds. “WEDDING NIGHT RESCUE: 6 people were trapped in a hotel elevator between the first and second floor,” the tweet reads. Although the Jhas missed seeing their guests because of the delay, the groom says they have a great story about their wedding day. “It’s going to be one we remember forever,” Panav says. “I’m going to tell my kids your mom was so beautiful, the fire department had to come.”
