Woman Saved From Gunman Passenger After Mouthing “Help Me” To Officer

Officer Kayla Wallace, with the North Myrtle Beach Police Department in South Carolina, is being praised for realizing something was amiss during a recent traffic stop that ended with the arrest of a shooting suspect. On May 28th, Wallace pulled over a white Jeep that had run a red light and she noticed that the female driver seemed “distressed.”

While the man sitting in the passenger seat was looking the other way, the driver mouthed “Help Me” repeatedly to Wallace, who immediately removed the passenger from the vehicle and placed him in her patrol car. The driver then told Wallace that the man had just shot someone. The suspect was soon linked to a shooting that happened nearby and arrested on charges including attempted murder and kidnapping.

In a post to social media, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department applauded Wallace's efforts, writing, "Due to Officer Wallace proactively patrolling the streets... a suspect in a shooting was arrested." Officer Wallace, who’s been with the North Myrtle Beach Police since 2021, has been commended for her "great job."
