It’s the stuff that nightmares are made of…Eight passengers on a rollercoaster were stuck upside-down for hours at a carnival over the weekend. The incident occurred on the Fire Ball at the Forest County Festival in Crandon, Wisconsin on Sunday, which left the riders staring at the ground from stories above for at least three hours.

A spokesperson for the Crandon Fire Department said, “All we know is that there is a mechanical failure with the ride where it became stuck in the upright position,” though he also claimed the ride had been inspected prior to the malfunction. After the passengers were finally rescued, all but one of them were reportedly taken to the hospital for evaluation.
