Taylor Swift World Takeover Continues With "Swiftie Clara"

She's taking over the world more efficiently than the Romans or the Mongols ever did. All Taylor Swift has to do is schedule a concert in a particular city, and the city opens its gates to her - no Trojan Horse required.

The Santa Clara, California city council will proclaim next Tuesday that Swift will be made honorary mayor of the city - and the city's name will be changed to "Swiftie Clara" while her Eras Tour concert makes its Levi's Stadium stop on July 28 and July 29.

"Taylor Swift is coming to Santa Clara for the third time and this time we wanted to honor her respectfully, so we had a proclamation and show our Swiftie spirit on the Eras Tour," Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor said.

Santa Clara is not the first city to get caught up in the Swiftie mania. As the tour has crossed America, cities have done everything from formal proclamations to renaming streets as a way to highlight the artist.

In case you're wondering why an American city would bend over backward for a pop star, there is a legitimate and logical reason. Silicon Valley Central Chamber of Commerce CEO Harbir Bhatia says it gets people buzzing about the city. "When we give her that honor for these two days it shows she is coming to Santa Clara," Bhatia said. "Not LA or San Francisco, but Santa Clara." Hey - that's "Swiftie Clara" to you, ma'am.
